Things are changing at work and that seems to my life this week, that and logging onto Second Life shopping for my cottage or taking pictures and gaining new Flickr followers. But anyway back to work, we said goodbye to another Reservations agent who has moved into Sales. Because of this and being limited in agents taking phone calls, our boss has decided to put all of us on a rotating shift.
Which means for me I’ll be doing a week of 7am-3pm (eww!) I don’t mind to be honest, it will be a nice break from finishing at night and seeing sun by the time I get home, it only means that I will have early wake up calls such as 4:30am to get a bus on time into the city. We also did a massive training segment for the entire hotel, it has been ongoing since last week, I did mine today. Learnt a lot and it’s four principles could also assist me in living my life.
One single line spoke out to me and it was something that the great inventor Thomas Edison had said to his peers after countless of failed inventions, I didn’t know that the man behind the light bulb had failed over one thousand times before he achieved greatness and put his name into our history books.
“I don’t see it as failing one thousand times, I see it as succeeding” To me, it is interpreted as that despite how many times you fail in anything such as being a decent person or doing your job correctly, fixing a relationship, you have all these bumps on the road, all these hurdles but to not see them as negative but rather a positive effect to encourage you to keep trying until you succeed. This resonated and stayed in my head and something I will apply to myself in everything that I do.
Let’s see if I can post my usual five, since this week it has been very quiet for me on the social front, I didn’t even go out with Mei on the weekend, I think we’re waiting until the new Mission Impossible comes out, her second boyfriend Henry Cavill is in it 😛
- Hanging out with the boofhead this past Friday/Saturday, it was nice to chill out online
- My boss said I should get a smaller uniform, I apparently have shrunk again -squee-!
- Addicted to watching novelty soaps being made on the channel Royalty Soaps via Youtube >.>
- Tiny bit of shopping last Sunday, I got more jeggings (jeans/leggings) and this cute polka dot sweater
- Massive catch up with my girls who work at Kitten D’amour, I haven’t seen them in a month, so nice to see both of them ❤
And I could continue the lyrics of “Breaking Free” from High School Musical but I won’t, but I just have another week where I can’t complain at all in what is going on in my life. This week has been great with both work wise and personal life. Despite some team members not being around this week, my department has still come out on top in tackling all aspects of our tasks and nailing it every day! Our new trainee is blossoming gracefully and very quick on the pick up…so, so proud to be a Reservation agent.
Friendships always changing but always getting closer with my girls and though I said goodbye to some for the benefit of myself (nobody wants a whiny pup, I’m just saying) I am fortunate for my small circle of friends. Speaking of which, seeing my bestie Mei last Saturday for movie date night was great! And nothing is better than having deep and meaningful discussions with your ‘Nee-chan’ while eating delicious, hot Korean food.
Tonight in the final hour of my shift at work, I drew a larger version of my fictional world Orphios (the planet where my trilogy: Seven Realms is set in case anyone has forgotten) and while browsing the web when I got home of other fantasy maps drawn by creative writers, I realised that the original specs of my first map wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t as small as I thought and my thoughts on my little world has gone back to content.
Side note: Same angles but using different colours/windlighting that I have seen featured on Flickr photostreams needs to go! I don’t want to see your pixel vaj 9 times, be original, be unique! Get some damn creative in your vapid soul! I am seeing an increase of online escorts doing this and it’s up there with my irritations alongside married women dating online, child-like avis in bondage and catfishing boys and girls.
Featuring my five likes of a productive but content week again;
- My real life fashion outfits, family and friends are complimenting me on how ‘on point’ my LOTDs are
- Incredibles 2 last Saturday with Mei was freaking fantastic! I could say it was better than no.1
- I bought a Sailor Moon umbrella from Spreepicky last night, it’s so cute, can’t wait to have it
- The to-be-reviewed reservations are back down to 0 at work and STAYING down!
- Soups on cold days that is all
I am thankful that my weekend has arrived because the first week at my new job has been intense and information overload! I am glad I have a good memory because there is definitely a lot of detail when it comes to being a Reservation agent and I now understand why my old boss suggested I should apply for it. Though there is a lot to understand and its only my first week, I have been having a blast at this new challenge that has been given to me and eagerly accepting it wholeheartedly.
Because I travel into the city every morning on the bus, the need to go into the city isn’t as strong anymore because I’m already there and the energy that comes out of the CBD whether it is early morning with the smell of coffee and corporates going to work or in the early evening with everyone taking transportation home or hitting the local bar or restaurant for drinks, it is always exciting and doesn’t stop. Sydney may not be as bustling as New York City but we still have our own vibe, I am so glad to be working in the city again.
Today I had a decent two hour sleep in from my usual wake-up during the work week and I haven’t done much for this Saturday, tomorrow afternoon is the work Christmas party, I already got my outfit ready (can you tell I’m eager?). Today I visited my old work, returned pair of shoes to my colleague and got myself a headset, its only been four-five years that I been telling myself on the sideline to get myself a microphone that’s not embedded in my laptop.
Excited to know that I will also have Christmas off, which means I’ll have time with my family and I won’t have to work around a schedule where it was limited.
The past three days at work have been non stop to say the least, each day I have been clocking off work at least 45mins to an hour later, this usually isn’t the norm for me and it’s not because I haven’t been able to be on top of my work. No my checklist is signed off and complete on each shift it is because I take on additional tasks to help my Assistant manager so they can leave on time as well. Tomorrow is my last day before my two days off and tonight I printed off 114 registration cards, so many!
My colleague is determined to sign up the majority of them into our hotel loyalty program while I am just thinking of how much updating we will need to do from each registration card and adding membership numbers to every one who signs up. I would have no problem with this if my parents weren’t always arguing with me that it isn’t my job to stay back every day. I understand that I am rostered on from certain hours but it is always about flexibility, this is what hotels is all about and it is not like I hate my job, I am passionate in what I do here. I wish my parents understood this by now.
I have been given the roster for next week and my boss has given me three days before flying to Europe off! Happy to say I am one happy traveller and not too long until the big day arrives 😀
I am so sorry I haven’t been posting anything on here for the past five days, I hope I haven’t lost a couple of the new followers that added me this past week. If that is the case, I am sorry again. Work has been crazy and I am learning so many new procedures and doing projects that come with being a team leader. My front office manager said I have to do the work before I get the title, one of my assistant managers is also leaving end of June and I have this feeling that after having experience as a team leader, I too will leave this property I have been for almost four years now, I think it is time to move on.
Three nights ago, I also had a bleeding nose at 2am, just when I thought I was over my fear of my blood and that episode just proved I am still not over it and still freak out. I know it is a mental issue and no matter how many times my parents tell me to not panic because it is not life threatening, I still flail and call for help. Day after and I started getting the beginning stages of a cold, today I have been sleeping majority of the day until the afternoon when I dropped my dad off to the bus stop, he is going into the city to catch up with some old work mates.
Normally I go into the city because T.G.I.F but I think for tonight, I will just get some takeaway and eat from home, I am back to work tomorrow morning and I know working AM shifts this weekend will definitely not help me get over this common cold. Opened up a new public room on IMVU and been hanging with my girls on there, finding it more fun than staying parked in my cottage on Second Life, that mood to log into the universe seems to be diminishing every week.
Mum is also coming home from working overseas and will land in the morning, I won’t see her until I finish my shift though at 3pm and perhaps catch up at my aunt’s 60th birthday. It is an afternoon event.
Three days out of eight have been done and dusted so far and I still have yet to continue my exercise, though I’m still very much moving around but not at a cardio level. Mum has been telling me about my budget for our Europe trip in August, thank goodness I been saving up is all I can say despite the random splurges of cute buys online…
Our clocks went back an hour today and I am forever grateful for the extra sleep I got this morning turning six hours into seven, I also worked with my front office manager today, despite being constant with our check outs, the guests were all so lovely and happy people, so we had a lot of fun while on shift. I also got fed breakfast at work today too, we got to have eggs and hash browns plus a free lunch! I can’t say no to fish and chips.
Been on a writing spree when it comes to the story of Mistaken Identity, I am up to chapter 6 for it and so far ironing out the plot while trying to calm down all the crazy ideas that keep entering my head around the fictional tale. Watched Burlesque to help with the dance sequences since the main focus is in the club. Can’t wait for this week to finish though, not just because I’m looking forward to a mini weekend away with mum but to get my rest will be nice.
Though Cyclone Debbie has gone passed and settled down from a category 4 to a tropical storm in Northern queensland, my work life is about to become a busy period leading right up to the weekend where mum and I will be doing the 10km walk in our nation’s capital.
Yes it is coming up already, can’t believe this month has gone so quickly (sorta). I will be working 8 AM shifts straight after tomorrow’s day off and training the new guest service agent, it will be a leadership experience for me, so wish me luck!
Do I have five likes for this past week, lemme count them below;
- Parents came home yesterday and I got a t-shirt present from mum 😀
- Sushi from Kanzo in Parramatta today for lunch was divine
- Finally watched Moana! What a girl power driven and emotional Disney movie ._.
- I been on a creative spark all this evening with writing my story Mistaken Identity
- Catch up phone call with my old work colleague Honey, we will see each other on Saturday
Even though I worked only 5 days last week, 3/5 days was super busy because the hotel was sitting at 100% occupancy, not looking forward to waking up tomorrow at 5am because I gotta be at work an hour early. Ew! Also 7 days of work this week, double ew! I’ll get through it as I always do, but listing off the 5 likes I had this past week.
- My resting heart rate has gone down to 81 (thats good for me >.>)
- Mei got me a delayed birthday present last night, two charms from Pandora 😮
- Boyfriend and I been planning for our days together in August ❤
- Been playing Minecraft again, it’s another creative outlet for me
- Dragons: Race to the edge on Netflix is an addictive show I been watching all week!
I made it! Counting down the five days of AM shift this week that finally led to clocking off at 3pm from work this afternoon and entering my five day weekend. Tonight was a great night with my bestie Lana, we just had dinner and dessert so stuffing our faces with our favourite food and talked about anything and everything, our usual thing when we go out. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and catch up on this weeks’ lack of rest.
This week’s 5 likes;
- I got to work with Honey on AM shift, haven’t worked together in 3 weeks
- My pink mermaid tail arrived this week so did my DokiDoki crate
- Venus was out in the sky last night when I went for a drive
- Kat and Dom who play Clary and Jace were Batgirl and Nightwing for Halloween! ❤
- I started writing up short stories for Ame’s Miami arc, inspired by Polyvore outfits I made
The repetitive vice I have on Second Life is the hungry boys and girls that doesn’t matter your age whether well into your 40s or just entering adulthood you guys all horny and need to buy a collection of sex toys! Stop acting so desperate for a partner when really you just need a good boink!
I got one more day of work again before my two days off and also figuring out what will be my new fashion tile since the last one was so popular on Flickr. Work started off dramatic with one of our guests but ended on a good note even if my property is majority tour groups from Asia. Also looking forward to Melbourne Cup day, I was told by one of my Assistant managers that we have to dress up for it. Hullo to my Kitten D’amour closet!
This week’s 5 likes;
- Doctor Strange yesterday in Gold class, it was amazing! Benedict Cumberbatch born to be Steven Strange
- I got Halloweentown I and II plus Twitches to watch this weekend
- I saw myself on tv when watching X-factor episode that I went to last weekend
- One more day of work until weekend
- The Asian tour groups helping me with their fellow tourists in putting on WIFI to their phones
My only vice is at myself for struggling to write this next chapter for Ame Hayato, so much research and youtube watching to get inspiration for a knife fight. Battles are much harder to write than graphic smut I tell you!
Enjoying this 24hr break between my AM and PM shifts, it was so busy working the morning 7am-3pm at work the past two days because we have a lot of conferences and corporate groups staying with us. They check in for one night and leave the next day it also means no tour groups so no easy check out of a zero balance. I survived though and got just two more days of work left before I participate in yet another walk/jog with my mum this weekend.
This week’s 5 likes;
- Early evening drives heading up north to my favourite hangout by the river
- I got 2 name mentions from guests in our hotel surveys
- “The Hen Den” my Facebook group chat with International girl friends
- Making a list of Halloween movies to watching leading up to the 31st
- My Flickr is 20 followers away from dinging 900 😀
No vices tonight other than the usual vents that you all know about or I have already clucked to my friends about, plus my brain is tired and can’t be bothered to make an opinion. Good night ❤
