Diary: Return to Chaos

I have returned to the daily grind at my beautiful hotel in the city and I can happily boast that my team needed me desperately though I was only absent for two weeks. It is so good to see everyone again, though I enjoyed the time my boyfriend was here and got to show him a lot of my city, being back in the office and talking with my colleagues and doing our usual antics, I missed them all!

A lot has happened in the past week and a lot has been occurring this current weekend too, they will be featured in my positive thoughts for the weekend. Since Brad has left, I have been thinking over my trip for next year and when to go. Obviously it will be my turn to go to England and finally meet his parents and all his friends but I’m unsure on what time to go. My mum and bestie thinks I should go in their winter to see if I can survive it or not.

There is also talks of who would move where, my dad has already expressed that I am not going anywhere but in the end, this decision will be up to me and where I want to go in the next two years.

Sharing my five likes for this week;

  • Black Panther with bestie Mei last weekend, it is such an amazing movie and I downloaded two songs from the soundtrack
  • I have lost 6 kilograms since I started that life changing diet, friends and family are noticing the difference
  • I bought The Last Jedi novel when Brad was over here, my shipper heart for Kylo and Rey made me so happy in reading the book. Jason Fry brought the movie to life even more
  • Bruno Mars tonight with my Filo cousins and sister, from what I heard from friends who already been, he is an entertainer and keeps the crowd going.
  • Brad and I shared rolled ice-cream the night before he flew home, it was in a cute pop store in my favourite shopping mall in the city. Oreos of course and so yummy.

Mood: TGIF!

Another end of the work week has arrived and though I do not have anything planned for this weekend, I am glad it is here. We have been busy at work this week but the weather has been cooler than anticipate and I’m thankful we had it compared to next week which has a forecast of in the thirties. Eww!

I also have a work party that is occurring on February 1st but I am unsure whether to attend or not. Only because it falls on a week night and its from 6pm to 10pm and I still have work the following morning. Decisions, decisions! I would love to go as its any chance to socialise with my work peers and there is a theme for the event: Nautical. Any excuse to dress up for it as well but the cons that go against it is that its straight after work, I would have to bring an extra bag of clothes and lug it with me on the bus home, and I cannot stay until 10pm because my bus finishes at 7:30pm.

I have been writing a lot after work too, my longest story so far has now reached over 220 pages, that is a milestone in my entire writing history. My stories never reach this long let alone have over 30,000 words. I am half-way through this book.

Diary: Third week

Work has resumed as normal after New years day and I’m starting to pick up my own rhythm and confidence with every passing day. My assistant manager no longer needs to correct me on how I say things in calls to our guests and I don’t have to keep referring to my notes or the spreadsheets. My giant memory is once again becoming an asset in remembering the small details of a fast pace job. Don’t get me wrong though, I am living for these quick days where before I know it, it is already Friday afternoon.

My team of 8 including my two managers are amazing and hilarious but a supportive unit, if we need assistance in clearing out the email inbox or reducing reservation reviews, two of us will jump straight into it and power through. But while we all work, we also crack up random jokes, a couple of my team members break into a song or there is the standard share of delicious sweets to keep the energy flowing by the afternoon.

The past two week’s five likes;

  • Boyfriend is here in 40 days! Two weeks I will have my Brad with me ❤ I can’t believe it is so soon!
  • Watched Green Days’s American Idiot musical yesterday with mum at the Opera house, we got a little bit dressed up. I finally got to wear my pink polka dot dress from Kitten D’amour. The show was highly emotional and intense but the music still had me singing since it is from GD’s album.
  • Saturday night at Regent place with the bestie Mei, we had not seen each other since New years eve, so it was nice to catch up with her while also discussing what to wear for my upcoming 30th birthday next month, omg!
  • Miraculous has returned and graced our digital screens this past Sunday, Season 2 keeps surpassing the fandom’s expectations and it’s a nice fan base where no one is nitpicking or ranting about certain couples…unlike some other fandoms lately.
  • Cadbury mini eggs are back in the supermarket! And the small packets are $1 each, I know I told myself less sugar…so I bought one box a day (the box is the length of my thumb..)

Mood: Appreciating

After 4.5 years of highs and lows with plenty of memories that were made, I said goodbye to the Novotel this afternoon, though I am returning to the hotel tomorrow to return my uniforms and badges, I officially signed off today. I got spoiled with gifts and plenty of hugs shared around.

I have seen the hotel change brands and my Front office team have plenty of changes itself in either procedures, staff and even the uniforms that we wear, we have thrived through all outcomes and become a much stronger team as a whole. This post will feature some of my favourite moments during my years at the hotel.

  • The school formals, though I am working the PM shift hearing the loud music and seeing the outfits of the girls that come in, it is always a fun night to experience
  • My birthday card last year was signed by a couple of my VIP loyalty guests. We always give them the special treatment but on that day, they gave it to me
  • Going out to the movies with all my front office colleagues, it is so rare you have all of us together in one room. When we had the opportunity to promote the film linked to the Novotel brand, it was always a fun afternoon.
  • Melbourne Cup last year, I got to frock up and not wear my uniform for the races while working
  • Three emails from different guests of mine that was sent to my big CEO of Asia Pacific region, those warm fuzzy feelings
  • Meeting the CEO himself when he came to the hotel this month, I was in awe!
  • Learning to drive the hotel shuttle bus, it got me closer to the guests especially a group of fun-loving, happy nuns!
  • My regular guests and VIPs, I will miss my colleagues but I will miss the familiar faces I see daily who checked in with me

I will start at the new property and new brand but still Accor in six days time, I am grateful that I am given this time off in between, it gives time to rest, relax and prepare for the change of scene starting next Monday!

Mood: Mixture of Feels

I have been all over the place since yesterday, a lot has been going on leading up to my big trip and the event that affected me the most yesterday morning was when my beloved boss told me that she had resigned from being our manager and was moving into the city and changing hotel chains. Needless to say I was devastated, I even cried to one of my assistant managers over this news.

Though my boss has only been here for year and a half and I know in her new role she will do amazing things, she has been like a mum figure to me at work and encouraged to keep being the best person I can be. She has encouraged me to apply for other hotels, other roles having noticed my restleness here in my current role and knows what I want in my career. She will finish up when I am still on my holiday but promised me that my current duty managers will keep me in the loop of who our new boss will be. I am just going to miss her so much!

In other news, it is six more day until I am boarding a plane and flying to Dubai with the parents, I told my best friend it won’t hit me until the night before when I have to stay up before our 2:30am pick up.

Mood: Hopeful

I had a phone interview today with the reservation manager at Olympic park properties, it went good I believe and he will get in touch with me either by Thursday or by next Monday. With the assistance of my boss I have been submitting transfer forms and my resumes to various properties around Sydney. There was another I submitted today for the new Sofitel in Darling Harbour.

Again it was reservations and if I’m honest with myself, if I had to choose between the two if I got accepted in both, I’d go Sofitel for multiple reasons such as its in the city where I always go every Friday night for either Japanese or Asian street market food no matter what season it is. It is also specifically located in Darling Harbour where I first started working in hotels, seven years ago that is a lot of nostalgia right there. Plus it is a five star property and it is new! Right next to the newly built convention centre.

Either way, both of them are a different direction to my usual Front office job and it be nice for a change, I keep saying in this blog of mine that I have become stalemate in my current position and looking for something fresh to be part of. This idea of leaving Front desk and trying a new department in hotels has gotten me hungry.

Diary: Progress

It seems my boss is determined to give my career the boost it desperately needs having gotten me to fill out a transfer form and re-do my survey. I have also applied for two different types of roles, one is reservations, the other is communications like what I used to do at the previous hotel for 9 months and it was a fun 9 months as well, I enjoyed that role. So here is hoping I get into both, though the idea of working in a five star property though daunting sounds amazing!

Tomorrow is Day 3/5 in work and then I have four days off after that, not sure what I’ve got planned probably more organising my closet for Europe, 34 more days and it keeps getting closer! The excited jitters have landed.

My five likes over the course of the past week;

  • Vegetable tempura is delicious and addictive!
  • Kong: Skull Island wasn’t as bad I expected and the bonus of Tom Hiddleston ❤
  • Marie from Aristocats and Regina from Once upon a time pop dolls I got the other day
  • Clary and Jace had their kiss in the recent episode of Shadowhunters! MY OTP IS BACK
  • Early access to The Crystal Heart Festival on Second Life is a magic girl’s dream come true

Mood: Productive

I started packing for Europe since yesterday, I think it is partially because of my mum has been dropping some of her clothes on my bed and advising me to “get a move on” so to speak. The big luggage has been pulled out of the wardrobe and had tshirts thrown inside, I made a mental note for myself to address the packing on my upcoming days off. Can’t wait for the warm weather to be honest, when I finish my PM shifts at 11pm it has been between 7-9 degrees celsius when I walk out of the hotel. Too damn cold!

I have also written up a new resume from the beginning, the original resume that had been typed up by my dad and I had been adding in information over the years was “too cluttered and too old fashion” according to my boss and she asked if I could re-do it again. I have sent what I have written to one of my assistant managers who has been my mentor over the past couple of months and hopefully we can build it up to standards so our boss can send it through to the reservations department at the other property. If I do get this job I can have my weekends back and my body clock will be reset to normal.

Hobby wise, I have been making a lot of Polyvore outfits for my character Ame Hayato, I am hoping that with this creative outlet it will inspire me to continue her chronicles and share the stories with all of you here on my blog.

Diary: A change of Scene

I was suppose to post this earlier but that Ame fashion entry was too cute that I enjoyed seeing it sit at the top of my blog without anything disrupting all the bright colours of her wardrobe. Anyway here is a weekly update of what is going on in my reality. Work has been seamless and no problems, though our rating is horrid (we got 10 days to boost it up again!) though I also may been having a change of scene if all goes to plan and with the continuing support of my Front office manager and duty managers.

I won’t speak of it as of yet since its still very much in the early stages but after I was presented with a different path in my career, I realised that after 4 years in the same hotel, doing the same job I have become officially stalemate. No movement, no nothing even with the increased training of more tasks. This offer was presented to be my boss and had me thinking about it the past couple of days. I sought out advice from my besties Mei and Katie, my boyfriend Brad and my parents. They all think I should go for this new opportunity, so we’ll see how it goes.

I will keep you all my readers in touch of how it goes over the next couple of weeks, but surely nothing will happen as of yet because of my big holiday in August.
The top five likes from the past 10 days;

  • New assistant manager has started working at my hotel, he knows my other duty manager and we are getting along very nicely
  • Shadowhunters is back tomorrow, wooot!
  • I have been binge watching Season 1 of Reign, oh gosh my ‘Frary’ heart is bursting
  • I know I’m suppose to be saving up my money but I couldn’t help but get new Peter Alexander winter pjs today
  • I’ve seen this handmade Enchanted rose with fairy lights on Etsy and I want to buy it so much! Maybe after my holiday (if I have money left in my bank account)

Diary: Cold, very Cold

I do not like this 4-7 degrees Celsius every night I finish at 11pm and drive home, it is too cold though it is perfect excuse to pull out the cute winter wear again and get all snuggled in. But I still don’t like it! Work has its moments of being random and fun, then other times we are cracking down and working our butts off until after the shift ends.

Tonight was one of those nights and it is also when I had some girl who only comments on my timeline when being a bitch and the thing is she really knows nothing, to think that my status was about the virtual world had me mentally facepalming- some people live online too much.

An assortment of five positive things this week;

  • Vivid (Sydney sound and light show) is back on in the city, going to see it with family on 11th June
  • More Shadowhunters promos, we have a week until it premieres again!
  • My group of girls- glad we are hanging out more on IMVU, it is peaceful
  • My unicorn slippers arrived in the post last week, just in time for the cold weather
  • Natural stones collection at Lovisa jewellery store- been wearing a lot of moon stones lately :3

Diary: Relaxed and Content

After last weekend’s non stop action, this week has been fairly slow, the past week was all PM shifts and training the new GSA, she been nailing the checklist so I had confidence that she would be fine to work on her own when I went on my days off. Weekend was exciting and did a lot of socialising with my friendship group from high school.

Now I’m halfway through my AM shifts in this new week and so far it’s been quiet because of this Easter long weekend, I don’t mind it has been nice to catch up on projects that had to be put on hold because of my teaching or busy days where we are 100% and full of corporate guests.

My five likes for this week;

  • Mei’s 30th birthday dinner, got to catch up with the high school girlies
  • Fate of the Furious (F8) was friggin awesome especially in gold class
  • Shadowhunters is renewed for Season 3…according to SpoilerTV
  • Bucket of M&M speckled eggs from my younger sister for Easter
  • Quiet weekend at work, everyone still on holidays!

Diary: Life is Amazing

Home now and about to go downstairs for dinner with my family but it has been a rather chill Sunday afternoon, I had my work Christmas party the first one I got to go to after 3 years working in the same place and it was a lot of fun and learned how to bowl on the green. Took one of my assistant managers home who is also training me to become a team leader. Staying positive and smiling lots today 😀

This week’s 5 likes;

  • Joanna Lumley’s Japan- A show on ABC of the actress travelling in the land of the Rising Sun, I neeeddd to go!
  • Barefoot bowling with work for our Christmas party today
  • 3 days off now woohoo!
  • A video sent from my drunk boyfriend telling his mates to say hi to me xD

Diary: This Week

After a chilled out five days off though one of those days included going for a walk in the Blue Mountains, yes I drove 45mins up into my local mountains and went for a walk around our local landmarks because the company of myself when everyone else is working is quite enjoyable. I have returned to work since last Friday and the weekend was chaotic with dodgy guests who just aren’t trusted or causing disruption. Just got tonight and tomorrow then I have my weekend again 😀

This week’s 5 likes;

  • Dinner with my family at Hard rock cafe then dessert at Lindt cafe in the city last night, lots of fun as always
  • My flickr has reached 900 followers (currently 902) I never thought I’d reach it
  • Venus and a super Moon are out in the skies tonight
  • Mum has booked us a midnight screening of Fantastic beasts and where to find them this Wednesday! #Gryffindorpride
  • Yesterday I celebrated my 2 year relationship with my other half Brad ❤

I think the vice I got again is related to those on Second Life who make the videos of their avatar dancing, product value I understand to show what you are offering but those girls who do it to purposely show off their huge pixel tits or backside, you are better off going on those cam websites and displaying your real body if so bold -_-

Diary: The Daily Grind

I been back home from Hawaii for the past 9 days and also returned to work two days after I landed. My regular guests were happy to see me and asked of stories while in Oahu, happy to say that during the first week back I did not have any post-holiday blues more like a refreshed mind and ready to tackle work. I was surely missed by all of my Front desk team and it was amazing to see them all again.

I also experienced jury duty, that was interesting to say the least but I wasn’t selected so didn’t have to inform work I’d be missing out on shifts which leads to my return to work tomorrow with a stretch of 7 days, blah! I caught up in all my shopping on Second Life and Legion has been amazing, my warlock got her Scepter of Sargaras as you probably read in the short story I posted recently of her.

This week’s 5 likes;

  • My two, new Donut pillow cases from Adair
  • The latest collection made by Kitten D’amour: Girl Friday
  • My international group of friends- Mei, Katie, Aria, Rose, Elie and Mez
  • Cleaning out my clothes and organising my closet better
  • Work antics while on shift with my Front office

I also got two vices to quickly jot down in my diary, Insta-Fakes– People who post pictures to make it look like their life is amazing and so well versed when really they at home and do nothing and Fave-baits– In particular on my SL flickr when girls especially post pictures that aren’t appealing just to get a damn favourite usually is some sexual theme. No!
